Learning New Tricks

When I first started loving blogs a few years ago, one of the things I loved most was the amazing photography that I saw.  I wanted to be able to replicate that on my blog and I have to say it was one of the things that really held me back at first. 

It kept me from posting because I knew that my pics were not what I wanted them to be.  I worked at it a lot and kept taking photos and getting advice from those who know their stuff.

I have definitely gotten better and I feel good about that.

But I want to be waaaaaaaay better.

 

So.  I am going to take a class this year.  I am going to learn all of the important photography technical stuff that I can't even remember right now what it's all called--like white balance and shutter speed--ah I remembered a couple.  Because I think I got the fun and free part down, the just play around part.

The Big Event

Life is funny.  You wait and you hope and you wish and you prepare for the big things in life. 

You work hard so you can make money and then some more money.



So that you can buy some stuff.



As a mom (or a dad) you rush around and try to get some more stuff done so that you can make your dreams happen.



You beg-plead-pray-yell-manipulate for some time to yourself. (to work more to make more money to make your dreams happen)



You grandly proclaim that something really BIG is gonna happen.  Something exciting.



Or you create big challenges for yourself.

And then, somewhere in the midst of all of this planning and working and dreaming you realize that it's all happening.



Right here, right now. 



Little things.

And great big giant exciting things.

The Agony of the Dance

Yesterday was the end of the summer Tot Time Talent Show for my girls.  For me it was the almost end of the summer of running around like a crazy woman.  Well, I wasn't running around so much as stuck in limbo.  I would drop Piper off at her usual Tot Time Summer Camp and just as Audrey and I were leaving, Audrey would start crying-heartrendingly so-that I couldn't leave.  So I hung out at Summer Camp-almost every day-so Audrey could partake in the festivities.  I am now happy I did.  Audrey has made her own friends and I feel like she is ready to go off to her own Tot Time group.  Now when Piper heads off to Kindergarten and Audrey heads off to pre-school, I will be home all alone missing them after a whole summer of wishing for a moment home all alone!

I know, I know, I bore myself with the complaints.

I am not complaining about this little trooper though.  Piper's friend, Dylan, who was there to be the leader of the tots, in a pre-show meditation.........visualizing her steps, maybe?

How about this pobresita?  I found her in the exact same pose at the end of the show.

We forget how taxing the job of "being cute" can be on these little ones.  It's so important to just let them be sometimes.

That's when the real magic happens.

Can You Hear That?

Seriously, how awesome is that?  I wish I could just let loose like that.  I have a friend who can, actually two friends--grown-ups--they both call me and cry like that, on the phone, in my ear, gasping for breath, saying, "I don't know what's wrong with me!!"............welllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll.

I used to listen in earnest and really try to understand where they are coming from and what I can do to help.  Now I just think.....how?............how do they do it?........where does it come from???.............why the hey can't I do that???????? 

MY TURN!

Not that they wouldn't listen to me, they do, I just can't muster up the the real thing, I fakey fake it.  Fake little tears, fake little scrunched up face, cover my face with my hands so you can't see.  It's sooooooooooooo Lifetime Movie Channel.   

The point is, I feel the way Audrey is feeling in the picture.  It's all too much.  It's all good stuff, stuff I want to do, just 'too much' good stuff I want to do.  But I am also feeling like this is my week.  It's coming together.  I will have my momentum by the new year.

It's all gonna happen, I might even do a little caterwauling.
